SIALKOT-Police registered a case against the Pakistani husband and in-laws of a Canadian woman for allegedly torturing her after snatching thousands of dollars from her on Tuesday.

Canada-based woman Anne-Marie told the police that she married to village Gul Bahar-based youth Fahad Abrar after they developed friendship on Facebook seven months ago. She said that she came to Pakistan, where she embraced Islam with her Islamic name Saba Mariyam and married to Fahad Abrar.

She further told the police that her husband Fahad Abrar forcibly snatched 32,000 Canadian Dollars from her and ousted her from his house. She said that when she returned her in laws’ house they tortured her physically as her two teeth broke during the “brutal torture”.

“Now, my accused husband Fahad Abrar and my in laws have shunted me out from my in laws house after snatching said big amount, besides torturing me severely. I have been lying totally stranded in Pakistan and at the mercy of the circumstances,” she told the newsmen.

She urged the Pakistan government to provide her with justice by ensuring early arrest of her husband and in-laws. The Kotli Said Amir police have registered a case (No.199/2017) on her report.

She said that her husband and in laws were at large and threatening her with dire consequences for reporting the matter to police. Meanwhile, local police officials said that the accused had fled away after locking up their home and police teams were raiding at various places to ensure their early arrest.
