KE, SZABIST join hands for environmental
sustainability
KARACHI (PR): In continuation of its efforts to promote environmental sustainability, K-Electric (KE) under its Plant for Pakistan campaign, organised a tree plantation drive at Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST).
Hundreds of students joined the drive and pledged to adopt a tree each; with their collective efforts 400 saplings were planted and over 200 plants were distributed. It is pertinent to note that 70,000 trees have been planted since the launch of the ‘Plant for Pakistan’ initiative under KE’s climate change policy last year.
According to the KE spokesperson, “Aimed at encouraging the youth to play their role for a greener environment and providing them with an opportunity to collectively preserve the ecological balance, we are delighted to partner with SZABIST.”
Public awareness seminar on diabetes held
LAHORE (PR): Diabetes can be prevented by following a healthy and active lifestyle, stated leading medical experts at the public awareness seminar for diabetes organised by Jinnah - Allama Iqbal Institute of Diabetes and Endochronology (JAIDE) in collaboration with Novo Nordisk, attended by the Danish Ambassador, dignitaries, subject specialists, medical practitioners, and students here at Allama Iqbal Medical College. The seminar, which was a part of Annual World Diabetes Day Observance organized by Novo Nordisk and JAIDE, commenced with an awareness walk and seminar on the theme of Changing Diabetes and prevention. Expressing his views on the occasion, Novo Nordisk Pakistan General Manager Rashed Rafique said, “Novo Nordisk has always been at forefront to create awareness about Diabetes and how it can be prevented.

LTC lifts Urban Super League 2017 trophy
LAHORE (PR): Lahore Transport Company (LTC) beat The Urban Unit by 34 runs to win the first inter-departmental cricket tournament ‘Urban Super League (USL) 2017’. The 8-over format USL was the first Day & Night Cricket tournament organised by the Urban Unit. This Flood-light Tape Ball tournament was played among teams from the public sector companies and the provincial government departments in Lahore. The event got an exciting look with 24 teams from various public sector departments and companies contesting for the trophy in Aleem Dar Cricket Academy.USL featured 2 rounds, 27 matches and 264 players fighting tough for the title in 3 consecutive days.
It aimed to have the top players of different departments playing on one of the finest grounds in the city during a competition that not only showcased the best of talent within teams but also provided some pleasant and exciting moments to the viewers.
