Rawalpindi - District Bar Association has unanimously passed a resolution against American interference into Pakistan’s internal affairs relating to Namos-e-Risalat law.

The resolution “American dictation is not acceptable” was presented by Malik Saleh Muhammad Advocate during a meeting of General Body of DBA which held in the chair of President Sajjad Akbar Abbasi Advocate here on Tuesday. The resolution was passed unanimously by the legal fraternity.

In the resolution, the lawyers condemned the United States for demanding Pakistan to review the law of Namos-e-Risalat as it is violating human rights in Pakistan. They said the move on the part of USA has hurt the sentiments of Muslims and the people of Pakistan would not tolerate such interference. It was also said in the resolution that minorities are safe and secure in Pakistan and performing their religious obligations without any hurdle.

Addressing the meeting, DBA President Sajjad Akbar Abbasi, Vice President Chaudhry Faraghat Hussain Advocate and other senior lawyers vehemently denounced the US move and demanded the government not to act upon on foreign dictation in any case. They said no change in Toheen-e-Risalat (SAW) law would be accepted. They said lawyers would react strongly if the government tried to amend the blasphemy law.
