KABUL: Pakistani goods will be offloaded at border crossings before they are loaded on Afghan trucks, Afghanistan's Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has said.

Speaking at a news conference in Kabul, Transport Minister Mohammad Hamid Tahmasi said that President Ashraf Ghani has ordered that Pakistani goods should be offloaded at Torkham and Spin Boldak border crossings before Afghan trucks carry them to their destination, Afghan media has reported.

The move is expected to help private sector in Afghanistan. Earlier, Pakistani trucks were allowed to move into Afghanistan, Afghan officials and business leaders have said.

Tahmasi noted that trade via Chabahar port in Iran would be faster, cheaper and easier.
