KARACHI - Senior PPP leaders in Sindh have strongly opposed the party's efforts to bring the PML-F on board in the federal cabinet, sources revealed to The Nation here on Tuesday. PPP Chief Whip and federal minister Syed Kurasheed Shah and other heavy weight leaders from Sindh have strongly opposed PM Yousuf Raza Gillani's move to induct provincial PML-F president Syed Saddaruddin Shah, younger son of Pir Pagaro and a close relative of the premier, into the federal cabinet. It may be mentioned here that PM's son was married to the daughter of Sadruddin Shah. Sources added that Syed Khursheed Shah and other provincial ministers said that Sadruddin Shah was responsible for registration of countless fake cases against the PPP workers and leaders in Sindh during the previous regime. They told the PM that induction of PML-F Sindh President into the cabinet would create panic and uncertainty among the PPP workers in the interior Sindh and reduce the party vote there. Sources further said that PPP leaders have urged the PM that instead of Pagaro's son, PML-F leaders from the Punjab should be inducted in the federal cabinet. PPP and PML-F are considered traditional political rivals in the interior Sindh but the latter has, for the first time, started reconciliation after Pir Pagaro supported Asif Ali Zardari in the presidential election on the request of PM Yousuf Raza Gilani.
