RAWALPINDI - Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi No 1 Wednesday granted bail to 28 activists of proscribed Hizbul Tehreer (HT) booked under Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) by the Capital Police on Saturday. The ATC Judge Malik Muhammad Akram Awan accepted their bail applications and directed them each to submit surety bonds worth Rs50,000. It is pertinent to mention here that the capital police had obtained earlier three-day physical remand of three arrested activists including Muhammad Imran (Principal of an institute), Junaid Khan (Telecom engineer) and Tahir Saddozai from the same court on Monday. Among these arrested accused included highly educated people, head of educational institutions, telecom engineer, computer engineers, environment scientist, an official of US-Aid project, computer engineers and students of various institutions. During the operation, police also recovered hate literature and offensive material from the house. Those who were granted bail included an American national Muhammad Shoaib (Civil Engineer), Ch Waqar Ahmed (a software engineer), Eng Bilal Awan, Zaheer Khan, Ghulam Nabi, Sarfraz Khalid (Computer Engineer), Usman Jamshaid (Telecom Processing Manager), Rizwan Aleem (a PhD student at GIK university), Zakar Azim (UET Taxila student), Adnan Qureshi (Telecom Engineer), Abid Mehmood (a US aid project official), Muhammad Usman, Saifullah, Raja Junaid, Ahsan Manzoor, Irfan Ali, Numair, Ramzan, Aqeel Israr, Muhammad Rehan, Hamza Zahid, Muhammad Shoib, Abdul Aziz, Zaman Hamza, Majid Hussain, Abdullah, Muhammad Akmar, Usama Qureshi and Habib Khan.
