Plight of subordinate judiciary

Public at large has little interest or concern with the ongoing tussle between the Supreme Court and government over the NRO and 18th constitutional amendment. For them transparent and speedy justice is the main issue. Most of the judges in lower courts are corrupt. Court staff fleece litigants. In subordinate courts, justice is put on auction for sale for rich and financially sound parties. The rich can get the cases decided in their favor. In certain cases, aggrieved parties send complaints to SC and LHC against judges for their indulging in corruption and misconduct but no action is taken against them. I think that while the apex judiciary is doing a wonderful job, our lower courts needs to be reformed at the earliest. GANGLY KHAN, Lahore, October 21.
