Another 'Double Shah plunders Rs2b

GUJRAT - A fraudster has looted scores of citizens and businessmen by cheating them on the promise to provide monthly profits and left the country after plundering Rs 2 billion, TheNation has learnt. One Haji Rizwan had introduced the same business as Double Shah of Wazirabad had brought in earlier, ensuring the investors to get double amount of their deposits. He opened a shop of motorbikes at the Waqar Nadir Plaza in Gujrat city and got a niche in the business circles. He then offered the people to take monthly income by depositing their amounts to him as he had by that time got the public confidence. A victim said the fraudster would give Rs 18,000 to any depositor against his amount of Rs 100,000 and Rs 1 million against Rs 10 million. Waqar Nadir Jora, the owner of the plaza wherein Haji Rizwan set up his shop, is a seasoned businessman of the city. He took out a mortgage on his two plazas and also sold his shops to deposit the huge amount to Rizwan. Sources said a famous religious personality of the area deposited Rs 4.5 million. Likewise, an overseer of the Tehsil Municipal Administration, Kalo Jora, was taking Rs 4.5 million against his deposited amount of Rs 60 million. Moreover, Shari Motors deposited Rs 140 million, Mozzean Butt, a money exchange dealer, Rs 10 million, Salman Shah Rs 60 million, Yasir Mir Rs 10 million, Sheikh Ali Rs 9.5 million, Sheikh Farukh 6 million and Chand Dar had deposited Rs 30 million. There are a number of victims who got mortgage on their immovable and moveable properties to get monthly profit by depositing their amount to the Haji. The victims and the city circles have demanded that the authorities concerned should chalk out laws to stop such businesses, besides providing justice to the victims. Students protest BISE result errors: Scores of students of government colleges held a protest demonstration against the Intermediate and Secondary Board Gujranwala for the mistakes in their result cards and blocked the GT Road for four hours. The students of the Government College for Women, Fatima Jinnah College and Government Zamindar Postgraduate College took out a protest rally in the city. The rally culminated at the GT Road after marching through the city roads. The students blocked the road by making human chain and chanted slogans against the BISE Gujranwala. They demanded the rectification of the errors in their result cards of intermediate Part-I,II. The students said that the mistakes made were ridiculous as the BISE had given 87 marks out of total 85 to many students whereas those who did not sit in the examination were awarded full marks that were injustice to students. They said that the BISE had damaged their educational career and demanded justice. The students called off the strike after DCO Nawazish Ali and MPA Haji Imran Zafar assured them of justice.
