Our Staff reporter ARIFWALA - A dengue patient died while 16 new cases were reported here. The local police registered criminal cases against eight shopkeepers dealing in old tyres the other day. As per detail, dengue fever has assumed epidemic proportions here in Arifwala as 16 new cases have been found while many of the patients have been referred to Lahore Hospitals due lack of medical facilities. Meanwhile, a dengue patient 20-year-old Qadir, son of Zaman, who was referred to Lahore and he died there. Following the rising number of dengue patients, the officials of Health Department and other department concerned visited Arifwala and inspected different areas. On the other hand, the Tehsil Municipal Administration has also been engaged in anti-dengue fumigation but in vain. The prevailing situation has alarmed the local residents and they are demanding effective steps to arrest the epidemic.
