LAHORE - Justice Umar Ata Bandial of the Lahore High Court Friday adjourned to October 28 the petition filed against the appointment of Kokab Nadeem as IG Prisons. The petition has been filed by DIG Mian Farooq Nazir alleging that the respondent IG is junior to him by three years and was illegally appointed to the office of IG during the Governors Rule imposed in Punjab on February 25, 2009. The petitioner pleads for his appointment to the slot of IG Prisons contending he stands on merit for the job in terms of experience, performance, integrity and career record. The petitioner further contends that after lifting of the Governors Rule in Punjab all transfer orders passed previously during the Rule were withdrawn and the officers were put back to their original stations sans the one.
