Opposition leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday challenged the appointment of Admiral (r) Fasih Bukhari as Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the Supreme Court. The opposition leader through his lawyer Muhammad Akram Sheikh advocate filed a petition in the Supreme Court raising at least 17 legal points. The petitioner requested the court to bar the chairman NAB from working till the decision of the case. Federal government, Cabinet Division, Admiral (r) Fasih Bukhari and secretary law were made party in the case. The Petitioner said that legal procedure was not followed in the appointment of chairman NAB. He said President Asif Ali Zardari had appointed Mr Bokhari without completing the consultation process. According to constitution, consultation with Chief Justice of Supreme Court for appointment of NAB chairman was needed but it was ignored. Ch Nisar in the petition further said that many cases against President Asif Ali Zardari were pending in the NAB therefore there was wrong step of the president to appoint a NAB chairman according to his will. The petitioner also urged the court to declare nullified appointment of Admiral retired Fasih Bukhari as Chairman NAB.
