ISLAMABAD - The parliamentary leaders of almost all political forces have not yet submitted the names of their party members for parliamentary committee that would oversee the implementation of earlier as well as the recent resolutions passed in All Parties Conference (APC). The names of party members for this parliamentary committee would be submitted till next week as deliberation for suitable person to oversee the implementation is still under way, said leaders of political parties while talking to TheNation. After facing severe pressure from opposition parties, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has written a letter to the Speaker National Assembly, seeking a list of nominees for the committee. On it, the National Assembly Secretariat had written separately letters to party leaders including Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan of PML(N), Asfand Yar Wali of ANP, Maulana Fazalur Rahman of JUI(F), Faisal Saleh Hayat of PML(Q), Munir Orakzai, Parliamentary Leader of MNAs from FATA, Sadruddin Rashidi of PML(F) to seek the names of party members to oversee the implementation of resolutions. It is relevant to mention here that the deadline was not mentioned in the letters written to party members. When contacted, JUI(F) leader Maulana Amjad Khan said that party chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman had received letter from the NA Secretariat and name would be decided soon. Giving almost same response, ANP leader Zahid Khan said that party leadership along with members would decide the name very soon. Talking to TheNation, Munir Orakzai, Parliamentary Leader of MNAs from FATA, said that till coming Monday they would finalise names for parliamentary committee. Although the deadline for submitting names was not mentioned in the letters written to different parliamentary political forces yet the concerned parties would give names in a week. Parliamentary sources said that parliamentary committee would be formed in a couple of weeks to start its work. According to the 13th point of the resolution, A parliamentary committee be formed to oversee the implementation of earlier resolutions as well as this resolution and progress on the same be made public on monthly basis. It may be mentioned here that Prime Minister Gilani has said that it is now up to Parliament to expedite the nomination process as the matter has been referred to the NA Speaker. He said the parliamentary leaders had been asked to nominate their representatives as members of the parliamentary committee. Leader of the opposition Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had reportedly, on the floor of the house, raised concerns over the delay in the constitution of the committee, saying that the session going to adjourn on Tuesday but the parliamentary committee had not been constituted yet.
