ISLAMABAD - The newly appointed Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Admiral (Retd) Fasih Bokhari, has given clear-cut instructions to all the officers deputed both at headquarters and regional offices to deal with the cases on merit and no case against any person should be instituted on political grounds. The NAB spokesman informed that the chairman had further directed the NAB officers that emphasis be placed on the prevention side and on strengthening of regulatory mechanism to combat the menace of corruption. The Chairman was of the view that prevention model was far more better and effective system to fight the corruption than the enforcement whereby action would be taken after the execution of crime, the spokesman quoted him as saying. The Chairman NAB also stressed the need for changing the perception and image of the department as to be reckoned as the fair, transparent and effective premier anti-corruption institution, what was emphasised by him in the introductory meetings and briefings in NAB, the spokesman added. The spokesman denied the impression given in the news published in section of press that NAB was going to open up the cases against the leaders of some political party and added that Chairman NAB had not asked for presentation of files of certain leaders and made it loud and clear that the cases pending with NAB courts would be dealt on merit.
