OUR STAFF REPORTER SAHIWAL The professors and lecturers vowed to protest the policy of privatisation of education institutions as according to them it will deprive children of lower and middle class of education. In this connection, Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association (PPLA) Sahiwal Division held an urgent meeting here at Govt Postgraduate College against privatisation, self autonomy and establishment of Board of Governors. PPLA President Prof Abdul Salam Dola presided over the meeting. It was unanimously decided in the meeting that the PPLA would continue their movement against establishment of Board of Governors, privatisation and autonomy of 26 colleges across Punjab. It was also decided that according to the decision of PPLA central leadership, their will perform duty by wearing black armband from October 24 to 26 and on October 27th they will participates in a rally to be taken out from MAO College Lahore against the privatisation. On the occasion the speakers criticised the Punjab government apathy for not accepting their demands. They said that teachers would foil any conspiracy against education process. Condolence meeting held : A condolence meeting on the demise of former Principal Prof Abdul Qayyum Saba was held at Govt Postgraduate College here on Friday. The meeting was presided over by Principal Dr Anwar Ahmad. A large number of Professors participated in the meeting. They offered fateha for the departed soul of Prof Abdul Qayyum Saba The participants also expressed their grief and sorrow on the sad demise of the students of GCT drowned in boat mishap. They also pray Almighty Allah to shower blessings on the departed soul and give courage to bereaved families to bear this lose with courage and fortitude.
