ISLAMABAD - The Supreme Court on Friday ordered the Secretary Ministry of Interior to pay compensation to the heirs of missing persons till October 26, otherwise he would have to face dreadful consequences. The apex court in the last hearing on October 13 expressed its concern that despite repeated orders by the court the government had not paid the compensation to the heirs of disappeared persons, therefore the bench had summoned Secretary Interior Siddique-e-Akbar regarding the matter. A two-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan and also comprising Justice Jawwad S Khawaja heard the cases of the missing persons. During the hearing, the interior secretary requested the court to give some time for payment of compensation to the families of disappeared persons. Justice Jawwad S Khawaja warned him if the compensation was not paid to the missing persons families till October 26 then he would have to face dreadful consequences. Colonel Ali of Frontier Corps produced a missing person namely Haroon Khan before the bench and informed that he had already submitted his statement with the commission in this regard. The court adjourned the hearing till October 26.
