LAHORE - At least three people were killed and as many wounded when an oil-tanker smashed into a truck in Sundar area at Multan Road, police and rescue workers said on Sunday.

Police said that the road mishap took place because of over-speeding.  Rescuers said that six people wounded seriously and were shifted to a local hospital after the truck smashed into the oil-tanker.

Three of the wounded succumbed to injuries at the hospital while the condition of the three injured was reported to be critical till Sunday night. According to rescue workers, Muhammad Rahim, driver of the oil-tanker, his helper Ahmed and Abdul Sattar were killed in the road accident. The roads mishap also created traffic mess at the busy highway on early Sunday. The police have removed the dead bodies to the morgue for an autopsy and are investigating.  In another accident, a 55-year-old man was crushed to death when a recklessly-driven vehicle ran over him near Dharampura. The man, yet to be identified, was crossing the road. The driver along with the driven fled away. The police have removed the dead body to the morgue and are investigating.
