Disqualify Sharifs, PML-Q urges SC

SIALKOT - Deputy Prime Minister and PML-Q central Leader Pervaiz Elahi has demanded a commission to ensure early implementation on the verdict of Supreme Court in Asghar Khan case.He also demanded the Supreme Court to immediately disqualify the Sharif Brothers (Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif) due to ‘their role in the rigging’ of 1990 election.Addressing a public meeting on Sunday at far-flung border village of Sabzpeer, in Pasrur tehsil, he also demanded an impartial probe to find out which parties has been receiving funds from the secret agencies.He said that the SC verdict has unveiled the faces of those who did politics by plundering the national exchequer. Now that they have been exposed, they should be immediately disqualified for future elections and banned from politics, he said.“The nation must also reject such politicians,” Ch Pervaiz Elahi said. He said that formation of a high-powered commission was essential to probe into this matter of electoral corruption and ensure the early implementation of SC verdict.He also asked the Punjab government to conduct a referendum in the province to determine which party of the two, PML-Q and PML-N, carried out more development work in Punjab during their respective tenures.Pervaiz Elahi pledged to revive all development projects, including the mega project of Sialkot-Lahore Motorway, which he alleged were discontinued by the PML-N government on political grounds. He said PML-Q government had established four degree colleges in Sialkot district during its tenure but Shahbaz government had yet to allow these colleges to operate.He said that the Danish Schools, Yellow Cab Scheme and Sasti Roti Scheme have vanished from the Punjab without giving any iota of relief to the people and that showed the failure of the Punjab government’s economical and political policies.He said that the people have the right to ask the Punjab rulers about the output of these “vanished projects” projects. He also claimed that Rs90b bus service scheme initiated by Shahbaz Sharif would soon bankrupt Punjab. He alleged that instead of promoting education in the province the incumbent government had promoted the dacoits across the Punjab that was very shameful act for the PML-N leaders.Pervaiz Elahi claimed that the process of division of PML-N was on and soon it would be divided into several groups. “People would say ‘no’ to the PML-N in the coming general elections.” On the other hand, the political future of PML-Q was very bright, he claimed, adding that it was the right time for his party to shine. He asked the workers of both the PML-Q and its ally PPP to start their joint preparations for the next general elections with the sole aim to knock out the PML-N.Earlier, Ch Pervaiz Elahi was accorded a warm welcome upon his arrival in Sialkot, from where he went to the public meeting venue in a long procession. PML-Q claimed that thousands of its workers from Gujranwala Division also attended this public meeting.
