SIALKOT - Federal Minister for National Regulation and Services Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the Punjab government has unnecessarily beefed up security around her as well as her house and party offices in Sialkot.

She also admitted that she was being received life threats by the Taliban. Talking to the newsmen at Koobay Chak, Bajwat, she termed the security steps “political conspiracy” by the Punjab government against her and a “condemnable bid” to keep her away from her voters, supporters and the people of her constituency (NA-111).

She said that the provincial government’s security agencies were carrying out a negative propaganda about entering the Taliban in Sialkot region. She said that the Punjab government was claiming that her life was in danger by Taliban, as the Taliban have threatened. She alleged that the tight security at and around her residence and her political camp offices in Sialkot was harassing the people.

She said that she had deeproots among the masses and did not need so much tight security. She demanded immediate removal of additional security.

MINOR ELECTROCUTED: Eleven-year-old Sajid was electrocuted here the other day. As per detail, he touched the 11,000 KV main electricity cables which was passing through in Khokhar Town in outskirts from the city.  He was busy in routine work in his cottage, when he suddenly touched the main cable. He received severe electrical shock. He and died on the spot .

COMPETITION: The Pakistan Navy organised a water sports festival at Head Marala. A large number of the people especially families thronged the point and enjoyed a lot during the event.Senior officials of the Pakistan Navy said that the boating and water scooting competitions were held in River Chenab in which the general public also participated.

The even was part of the ongoing Punjab Youth Festival. The visiting families were much delighted to see this activity.
