PESHAWAR - If MMA is revived by accommodating all its old buddies, for which efforts are fully under way, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman-led Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) will be the main beneficiary in general and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular.

For this, many reasons are there, however as compared to other religious parties, JUI-F is deeply rooted in KPK, particularly in southern districts, where it is difficult to compete with either political or religious parties. Because, it is the JUI-F, that ever has grabbed maximum national and provincial assemblies seats from this part of KPK.

At the moment, at least four religious parties - JUI-F, Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan, Markazi Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith and Islami Tehreek - have firmly decided to revive the MMA, a conglomerate of different religious parties, sans two other major components-Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and JUI-Sami.

This time both the parties are reluctant to join old buddies, with whom they have ruled the province together after having majority in 2002 elections. To bring JI and JUI-S back to the fold, efforts are under way. However, it is not clear so far, whether these parties would be convinced or not.

Reportedly, JI led by Syed Munawar Hassan and JUI-S headed by Maulana Samiul Haq are not willing to go with Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman anymore, for the reasons best know to them.

With each passing day, political activities are getting momentum, and political climate will certainly heat up further soon after coming Eid, as different political and religious parties have planned different programs, some will welcome new comers, while others, will say bye, which happens usually in politics especially when elections are coming nearer.

In case, religious parties fail to restore MMA, again JUI-F will be on top among religions contenders, because, it has already made mind either to make seat to seat adjustment or get into an electoral alliance with parties other than religious. In this connection, it has been learnt that JUI-F and PPP have already reached an understanding to have seat-to-seat adjustment at provincial level.

Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, known for his clever political maneuvering is nowadays playing an active and a leading role at central level at political horizon, so, it has now become difficult enough to ignore him at all. In other words, it is now compulsion for political forces to take him on board.

While on other side, JI, which has been too much active in politics by holding huge political gatherings across the country, does not have a strength to grab national and provincial assemblies seats like that of JUI-F.

Apart from, restoration of MMA sans JI will be a blow for the latter. The JI hardships will be doubled, if it fails to make any electoral alliance or seat-to-seat adjustment with PTI-led by cricketer-cum-politician Imran Khan. Because, he has time and again said that his party would prefer to have solo flight in coming elections.

JUI-F, on other side has been joined by a number of prominent political figures in the resent past, thus, it is expected that it may emerge a single largest political party in southern districts of KPK. Recently, PML-N MPA Munawar Khan from Lakki Marwat joined the JUI-F, followed by another MPA Attiqur Rehman, who belongs to Hangu and associated with PPP-S.
