EC can't act against accused politicians

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) cannot take action against the accused politicians in the Asghar Khan case as there is no constitutional provision in this regard.
Speaking to media representatives in Islamabad on Monday Ebrahim lauded the apex court’s ruling but said the ECP’s rules did not allow it to proceed against politicians accused of taking bribes.
Ebrahim moreover said that no reference had been forwarded by the Senate chairman to the ECP on the issue of Rehman Malik’s possible disqualification.
He added that the commission had also not made a decision pertaining to proceedings against the minister.
