The first dengue fever case from Multan was reported on Tuesday as a patient, who was brought to Nishtar Hospital with high fever and severe aches, turned out to be the patient of dengue fever.

Nishtar Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Ashiq Malik confirmed that the patient namely Parvez, 28, was suffering from dengue fever. “He is resident of Mohalla Pir Jahanian in Qadirpur Rawan area. He just returned to Multan after spending seven days in Karachi,” claimed Dr Malik. The condition of the patient was stated to be stable and he was being treated at dengue ward.

Meanwhile, 21 special teams of Extended Programme for Immunization (EPI) have treated 12,335 cases of measles in flood-hit areas of the district. According to a spokesman of the health department, 21 Union Councils (UCs) had been affected by devastating flood in district. He said that some 11 Urban localities were sprayed for malaria/dengue while no rural localities was sprayed today. The spokesman informed that teams took 321 slides for Malaria examination.
