LNG supply for power plants next year: Khaqan

ISLAMABAD
Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday said that LNG supply would commence from the first quarter of the next year 2015 which would be utilised for the most efficient gas-based power plants.
He said this while briefing a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar to evaluate gas supply situation in the country. The meeting had an overall appraisal of the situation in the wake of the forthcoming IMF review. Gas supply to domestic, commercial and industrial sectors was discussed in detail.
It was emphasised that gas supply should be carefully managed and maintained during winter in view of the considerably enhanced demand.
Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar on this occasion said that while the government wanted to facilitate the domestic gas consumers, due attention would also be extended to the industrial sector, which was backbone of the national economy. Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Secretary Finance, Dr Waqar Masood, Secretary P&NR, Abid Saeed, Advisor Finance Division, Rana Asad Amin and other senior officials attended the meeting.
