Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has finally awakened from deep slumber, and has mentioned the development of Kalabagh dam in the future. his has only come about after the Indian Prime Minister showed his willingness to revoke the Indus Water Treaty by stopping water supply to Pakistan. It is a welcome news that some freshness has been brought into the Kalabagh affair, but its development should not have been ignored for the past four decades.

Water is a crucial necessity. It is also mentioned in the Holy Quran that every living thing is essentially made up of water, and it is a gift of God wherein the seas evaporate to produce rain. It is not only more important than electricity, but can also used to generate electricity; but our industry minded prime minister had failed to realise its importance. Hopefully, this time, we will see actual work being done on Kalabagh.
