According to a survey, carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, 42 per cent Pakistanis do not know the name of the writer of Pakistan’s national anthem.

A national representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked ‘who wrote the national anthem of Pakistan?’ In response to this question, 58 per cent said Hafeez Jalandhari, while 42 per cent were unable to recall the name or gave the wrong answer.

The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.

The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1,468 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, from August 20 to August 27.
