LAHORE   -  A labourer died while another sustained serious burns in a fire that broke out in a factory on Multan Road here on Thursday.

According to Rescue-1122, the fire erupted in Benz Factory following the occurrence of a blast there. Resultantly, a labourer named Yaseen (33) died while Shabbir (55) sustained burns and shifted to Jinnah Hospital.

Thick, black clouds of smoke could be seen from a long distance from the fire site while the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. The rescue teams reached the spot and extinguished the fire.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar sought a report from Lahore commissioner and Labour secretary about the incident of fire in the factory. He directed the officers to identify reasons behind the fire, adding that action be initiated against those responsible for the negligence. The CM also expressed condolence at the labourer’s death and extended sympathies to the heirs.
