How stupid is that?

One of the prerequisites for admission in the MBA programme of Quaid-e-Azam University is that you have to be younger than 26 yeaRs I completed my BBA from NUST Institute of Management Sciences, mostly on scholarships awarded to the brightest of students on merit, with a CGPA of 3.49. With work experience of over six years, I now want to improve my qualifications further by enrolling in the MBA program at Quaid-e-Azam University. The University has, however, said no. Since I am already 29, the chairman of the concerned department has refused to even consider my application. If not the only university in the land, QAU would most certainly be among the select few institutions that implement an age restriction for admissions. It is especially galling when one considers the fact that MBA is a mid career degree which benefits most the students having 2-4 years of work experience. QAU and HEC need to ensure that policies for such programs are updated to remove such inhibiting clauses. -AMNA TARIQ, Islamabad, via e-mail, September 4.
