MUZAFFARABAD (Online) At least 32 school-going children, were killed Wednesday when a Muzaffarabad-bound bus, which was carrying students from Garhi Dupatta, plunged into River Jhelum. According to the school administration, the vehicle was carrying 40 children aged between eight and 13. The dead bodies of 15 kids have been recovered while seven, including the driver, were rescued alive. Drive Muhammad Shafique jumped out of the vehicle before it skidded off the road. The arrested driver told police that 33 children usually boarded the coach but the number of kids Tuesday was 40 who were going to attend an Eid Milan party at their school. The unlucky children were the students of a school being run for the orphans. The eyewitnesses said the accident was a result of over speeding. The Civil Defence, Army and other rescue teams reached the spot immediately and called in divers for recovering the children from the river. But owing to the gushing water, the chances of rescuing the kids alive are very slim. However, SP Ghulam Kabar said every possible effort was being made to save the lives of children. The AJK president and the prime minister besides and Interior Minister Rehman Malik have expressed their sorrow and grieve over the incident.
