Fairplay Flood Relief Soccer Cup resumes today

LAHORE The remaining five matches of Fairplay Flood Relief Fund Football Tournament, postponed due to Eidul Fitr, will resume on Wednesday, September 22 at Model Town Football Academy (MTFA) Ground. In case of emergency, UMT Football Academy Ground, located inside University of Management and Technology (UMT) at Johar Town C-Block near Ghosia Chowk will be utilised. The 16-team event was inaugurated by Mian Irfan Ali, Vice Chairman Fairplay NGOs and MTFA, on August 27. According to PPFL match commissioner and chief organizer Mian Rizwan Ali, the quarter-finals Usmania v Young Shooters (4.30 PM), Universal Baba Cargo v Gulshan Ravi (5.30 PM), will be played on Wednesday, September 22, followed by two-semi-finals. Model Town FC and Raiders FC will face each other in first semi-final on Thursday, September 23 (8 PM) while winners of Usmania/Young Shooters and Universal Baba Cargo/Gulshan Ravi clash will be in action in second semi-final on Friday, September 24 (8 PM). The winners of semi-finals will appear in grand final on Saturday, 25 September at 4 PM (there will be no third-place decider). Meanwhile, two former Pakistani international players/coaches Chaudhry Muhammad Asghar and Hafiz Anees Javaid will act as match commissioner and referee assessor respectively of remaining five matches. Toqeer Akram, Muhammad Rizwan will act as Match Coordinator and General Coordinator. Naseem Uddin, Muhammad Shams Pervez, Fiaz Siddiqui, Younus Anthony, Liaquat Ali, Afzal Bari will perform duty as Referee/Assistant Referees.
