WASHINGTON (AFP) Authorities killed a gunman Monday after he opened fire inside a convenience store on the US Fort Bliss army base in El Paso, Texas, wounding two women, a military spokesman said. It was not immediately known whether the gunman or the women wounded in the incident were members of the military. Fort Bliss law enforcement responded immediately to shots fired at a Fort Bliss shoppette. Two victims were injured and transported to local medical facilities, said Colonel Joe Simonelli. The suspect was shot and is now deceased. The name of the dead and names of the injured are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, he added. At no time was anyone in the surrounding community in any danger, the colonel added, noting that Fort Bliss Law Enforcement and Criminal Investigation Division were assisting the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
