The flood threat is likely to mar the Eid celebrations of Multanites as the town has received a high flood warning, saying over 0.5 million cusec water will pass through Multan in River Chenab between September 23 and 26. The weather forecast by metrological departments warned that the country was likely to receive massive rainfall during these days while India could also release water in Pakistani rivers.

Meanwhile, the district administration also made arrangements for flood fighting as the District Coordination Officer cancelled Eid holidays of all district departments, directing them to set up camps in riverine areas. The DCO also issued order for deployment of rescue teams in riverine areas. Similarly, the teams of civil defence and Rescue 1122 departments carried out flood fighting drills while health and livestock departments finalized their arrangements for setting up camps in flooded areas. The DCO set up a flood control room in DCO office and additional district collector was appointed as focal person. He directed the town administration to arrange water pumps, tents and other tools used for rescue operation so that quick action could be taken in case of flood.
