PESHAWAR - After Talibans arrival and considerable deterioration in law and order situation in Buner district, the administration on Wednesday announced the closure of all judicial offices till April 30 and said that they would reopen from May 2. Moreover, police force remained confined to its barracks in the area. Apart from courts, attendance in other government offices like that of education, health, works and services, irrigation and public health engineering remained extremely thin. The Taliban militants even on Wednesday continued their expansion and reached Totalai town in the morning. Totalai town is only eight kilometres away from Swabi. According to eyewitnesses, the militants aboard vehicles carried modern and sophisticated weapons, including mortar guns, rocket launchers and hand grenades. They terrorised women, children and interrogated government officials there. They also took away two vehicles, ghee, cooking oil and other edible items from the government stores. It is important to mention here that police force has already been directed to remain inside the barracks. Meanwhile, the situation has been discussed in a number of high-level meetings, held at Governor House and Frontier House, and it has been reported that the administration is considering different options for military action against the militants in Buner. In this respect, several platoons of Frontier Constabulary have been put on high alert and they are likely to be deployed in different areas of Buner.
