KARACHI - The business community in the metropolis has completely rejected the outcome of the energy conference announced by the government on Thursday. Leading industrialists and representatives of the national and local trade bodies termed the governments decision of allowing two-day holidays as anti-industry and anti business, which if implements, would derail the process of economic growth and development in the country in the days to come. FPCCI chief Sultan Chawla has said that the business community is strongly opposed to the proposed plan of two weekly holidays and closure of markets at 8pm. He said it will further damage the industry. He said that the government is purportedly doing it to conserve energy, but in reality it will not serve any purpose and only damage the industry. The system of two-weekly holidays is in vogue in some countries, but it is detrimental to our business atmosphere and does not suit our circumstances, he said.
