LAHORE - Pakistan Mutahida Kissan Mahaz has demanded the President Asif Ali Zardari to restore water supply of southern Punjab as a gift to the growers on the occasion of his visit. In a joint statement issued here on Thursday, the chief of Pakistan Mutahida Kissan Mahaz Ayub Khan Mayo and other office bearers including Sardar Murad Khan Baloch, Imran Khan Lashari, Ahmed Ali Akhtar, Ch Muhammad Khalid, Ghulam Nabi, Nazar Muhammad Dreshak, Qasim Khan and Mian Muhammad Aslam Dareecha said that Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan Divisions produce wheat, sugarcane and cotton crops about 65 percent of the total production of the country while the shortage of water in the link canals is affecting production of such crops, which might cause food crisis in the country in upcoming years.
