LAHORE Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has rejected the loadshedding reduction formula unveiled by the government, terming it an unrealistic scheme, which would only added to the woes and miseries of the masses. In a joint statement issued here on Thursday, Chairman PTI Imran Khan, Secretary General Arif Alvi and Information Secretary Omar Safaraz Cheema said the government had made an excuse for selling electricity at higher rates merely to fetch hefty kickbacks and commissions. The entire formula is based on conserving available electricity and no sound plan has been unveiled about generation of additional power to augment the power shortage. Once again the hapless masses will bear the brunt of this impracticable formula of energy conservation, the PTI leaders said. They said exclusion of traders, industrialists, peasants, workers and chamber of trade and commerce representatives in the making of the new framework showed the autocratic character of the self proclaimed democratic rulers. They said the very first day of its announcement had met with protest from traders and the masses. The walkout of Faisalabad delegation from the meeting convened by the chief minister further exhibit the authoritarian mindset of the pseudo democratic rulers. The Army of ministers continues to feast off national exchequer. The government was wary of availing a prime and urgent opportunity of acquiring additional power from Iran at reasonable tariff merely to placate America, they concluded.
