PESHAWAR Members of the Tribal Loya Jirga (grand council) have announced complete support to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insafs (PTIs) sit-in against the US drone strikes and called for the implementation of recommendations of Fata reforms council. Addressing the tribal jirga on Friday at press club, MNA Akhunzada Chatan said that Pakistan was passing through a critical juncture, adding that particularly the people of tribal areas had been badly victimised. He said the growing US drone attacks further complicated the problems of Fata. He observed that the non-implementation of political reforms in tribal areas were also the major hurdles in resolving Fata crises. He said the drone attacks should be halted. All the groups are united to bring Fata into mainstream for the immediate resolution of problems and the issues confronted by the tribal belt, he said. Chatan said that terrorism did not affect only tribal areas but fuelled the entire country, adding that tribal people were specifically targeted through the US drone attacks, and atrocities on tribesmen. The tribesmen would not tolerate the American aggression any more, he warned. When we will raise against the drone attacks, when it could hit other part of the country, he questioned. About the FCR, he said development and progress could not be possible until the elimination of draconian law (FCR) in tribal areas. The tribal elders are agreed on FATA reforms council, which could be helpful to extend the political parties Act, and protection of basic human rights in tribal areas, he maintained. Billions of rupees had been allocated for the development of the FATA, but there was yet to be initiated any mega project, he lamented. In the US predator strikes inside tribal areas, innocent people including aged, women and children have been killed, whereas a large number are still mentally shocked, MNA said. PTI FATA Chief organizer Dr Bashir, said that the former president Pervez Musharaf had allowed the US drone strikes upon innocent tribesmen, which are still continued. On this occasion, JUI-F Mualana Neak Zaman, PPP Jhenraz Khan and a large number of tribal elders were present on the occasion. Bashir said that it was matter of grave concern that a CIA contractor involved in double murder case, who was easily released due the US puppet Pakistani government. Jamal Wazir held the elected representatives responsible for prevailing chaos and disturbance in tribal areas, saying that the FATA MNAs and Senators had bused to fulfill their vested interest, and left the poor tribal people on misery of others. He urged the people to participate in sit-in to show solidarity with tribal people, saying they would support any party, who will raise voice against the drone attacks. Later, a resolution was also unanimously passed, demanding the elected representatives from FATA to firm their stand against US-drone strikes, otherwise they will call a Loya Jirga against them in this regard.
