OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE The Station House Officer police station Mustafabad district Kasur is unwilling to take legal action against the armed culprits who created lawlessness situation and tried to occupy 58-kanal piece of land of a local farmer in Pindi Rajputan at gunpoint despite strict orders of the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sheikhupura. Police sources said that SHO Farrukh Riaz arrested eight armed men and recovered illegal weapons from their possession. He took them to the police station and later released all the accused after accepting illegal gratification. DIG Sheikhupura Rai Altaf directed the District Police Officer (DPO) Kasur to take legal action against the armed men who tried to occupy 58-kanal piece of land after the complainant Mushtaq Hussain appeared before him. The complainant told the DIG that he had got possession of 58-kanal piece of land from Tariq Mahmood after paying Rs one million as token money some three months back. Later, Tariq Mahmood refused to transfer his land in the name of the complainant and also gave him life threats. The accused also refused to pay back the money when the complainant got stay orders from the local court. On February 3, 2011, Tariq along with his seven other accomplices including Nasir, Irfan, Imran, Asif Ali, and Saddam Hussain equipped with automatic weapons and riding on two cars (LED-4244, LE-830) reached near the disputed land and challenged Mushtaq Hussain. A number of local residents also reached the spot and witnessed the situation. The armed men held up the complainant at gunpoint and forced him to take back applications and stay order against them. The gunmen created lawlessness like situation in the area, threatening the complainant of dire consequences. One of the eyewitnesses contacted the local police by phone. SHO Mustafabad police station Farrukh Riaz reached the spot, arrested the armed men, and recovered illegal weapons from their possession. Later, the SHO released all the accused and handed them over the recovered illegal weapons. The complainant further told the DIG that his opponents frequently try to harass him by using different tactics as they are trying to occupy his land at gunpoint. He also appealed to the DIG to ensure his protection and provide him justice by taking strict legal action against the accused. The DIG directed the DPO Kasur to take strict legal action against the accused but the SHO concerned has joined hands with the accused. According to the complainant, the SHO instead complying with the orders of the DIG is forcing the complainant to take back the application otherwise he would implicate him in false cases. The DIG has also sought record and complete report of the incident from the concerned police. The complainant further informed that despite strict orders of the DIG Sheikhupura, the SHO is still backing the accused and threatening him of dire consequences. When contacted repeatedly for his comments, SHO Farrukh Riaz did not pick up his phone.
