ISLAMABAD - US Army Chief of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey visited Pakistan Friday to meet and consult with Pakistani leaders and US Embassy officials. The US Embassy said that while in Pakistan, the visiting US armys top commander met with Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Chief of Army Staff. He also met with US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter, as well as civilian and military staff at the embassy. This was Gen Dempseys first visit to Pakistan since assuming the duties of Chief of Staff on April 11, 2011. Meanwhile, the military sources told The Nation that this visit was a follow up of the visit of Admiral Mullen, and he had exchanged views with General Kayani over the operational matters, war against terrorism and US-Pakistan cooperation.
