LAHORE –DIG (Operations) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar was made OSD on Sunday on charges of land grabbing.

Police sources, however, said that Dogar voluntarily relived the charge and has already requested to the Punjab Chief Minister to ‘make him easy’ from any operational work till the findings of the special Inspection Team’s inquiry are finalised.

The CM had ordered a high-level inquiry against Dogar in connection with a residential plot dispute involving three parties in Sadaat Town several days back. The CM Inspection Team chairman and his two-member team comprising DIG Maj Mubashirullah  and Deputy Secretary (Law and Order) Muhammad Ahmad also submitted the findings of the inquiry according to which, the DIG had never grabbed the land of one Dr Tariq, but the top cop raised a wall on a plot, which was taken on stay.

The inquiry was initiated after Dr Tariq who had alleged the DIG’s sister was illegally occupying some portion of his plot situated at Sadaat Town on Baidian Road and was also patronising a third party member Chaudhry Iftikhar.

According to a family member of the DIG (operations), the late husband of sister of the cop purchased 1.4 marla kanal land at Sadaat Town. Later, the widow along with her daughters shifted in Canada but she returned home in 2011 in order to get married her daughters in Lahore.  “For this purpose, she started construction on her plot but in the meantime, Dr Tariq submitted an application that DIG Dogar was supporting his sister and has occupied four marla land,” he added. According to his claim, Dr Tariq has occupied 28 kanal land against 22 kanal in light of the official registry. Similarly, Dr Tariq had also developed a property dispute with another neighbour Chaudhry Iftikhar (who claimed 1.5 kanal share from Tariq’s property) during this span of time. Further investigations are underway.
