LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that protection of life and property of the people is the responsibility of police.

He said this while reviewing the progress into the case of theft of two tractors and trolleys and meeting with the affected family, here on Sunday. SSP Lahore Abdur Razzaq Cheema was also present on the occasion.

The CM said that police should curb the oppressor and help the oppressed. He observed that only those societies make progress where justice was upheld and grievances of the citizens were redressed without any discrimination.

The head of the affected family Rehmat Ali informed that their two tractors and trolleys were stolen sometime ago which were their source of income. He said due to theft of tractors and trolleys, his family was facing financial problems.

The chief minister directed the police to further accelerate the efforts to apprehend the culprits and recover the stolen tractors and trolleys and a report be submitted to him within a week in this regard. He said that police should perform its duties more efficiently for curbing the crime and taking the culprits to task.

He said that police stations should be made symbol of terror for the criminals and a place for seeking justice for the oppressed. He said that police should play its due role for controlling thieves and criminals and purging the society of crimes.
