NANKANA SAHIB - Tuberculosis or TB would be completely controlled till 2025 in Pakistan, claimed the district in-charge of the National TB Control Programme.

Addressing the media at the District Council Hall, Dr Shabir Ahmed added that the health staff was trying hard to control the disease till 2015 in urban and rural areas in collaboration with the media, traders, students, teachers and social workers. Under the programme, the disease has been controlled to a great extent in rural areas.

“TB is curable disease and total 550 patients have been diagnosed positive with it in the district of 1.3 million population in last three months. Medicines were provided to 337 patients at early stage while 213 patients were diagnosed with positive symptoms of TB and are being treated properly. On this occasion, the programme mobiliser, Samina Amjad, appreciated the  media role in the society.

She said that 14 patients were diagnosed with the disease in Chak 9 and 10 during a medical camp held a few days ago but the patients were reluctant to get treatment in hospitals. For them, free TB workshops, test and treatment would be arranged at their doorsteps to have TB free Pakistan.
