MULTAN - JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman has said that former president Pervez Musharraf was not above the law, and should face courts according to the law of the land and Constitution.

Talking to reporters at Jamia Qasimul Aloom here on Monday, he reminded that politicians, including him­self, were put behind the bars during Musharraf’s days in power. The law and courts exist in the country,

Pervez Musharraf is not above law, he added. However there should be no injustice with anyone. He pointed out that today the country had been in a quagmire of crises due to the doings of Musharraf.

Maulana Fazlur expressed the hope that elections would be held on time, but if it happened to be delayed then it would continue to be delayed for long. Responding to a question, the JUI-F chief said that Returning Officers had no knowledge about Shariah, they made a mockery of everyone including themselves by asking illogical questions.

ROs, he said, disqualified Ulemas and permitted actresses to run for polls. In reply to another question, he said that the power must not be used in politics, adding that the election campaign in proceeding well. Maulana FAzl further said that in the past we had summoned a jirga in Fata for the betterment of the country.
