RAWALPINDI - Aar Paar (both sides of Kashmir) leaders paid tribute to The Nation Editor-in-Chief Dr Majid Nizami for his services to Kashmir cause. They also prayed for his long life.

They were speaking at Aiwan-e-Waqt programme on Tuesday. The current elections in Indian-occupied Kashmir were a drama, they held.

“Holding polls under 800,000 troops (is) against democracy. According to UN resolution, only Kashmiris can decide their future,” they added. An All Parties Conference has been called in this regard on April 30.

AJK former prime minister Raja Farooq Haider, JI leader Abdul Rashid Turabi, AJK Tourism Minister Abdul Salam Butt, Muslim Conference Secretary General Begum Mehrunnisa, Hurriat Conference leaders Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, Rafiq Dar and others also spoke on the occasion.

AJK Deputy Secretary General Sardar Abdul Khaliq said there could be no better evidence on ‘act of election in Kashmir’ that the majority of the population of occupied Kashmir have not even registered their votes.

“It does not matter if the BJP or Congress comes to power the Pakistan policy would remain the same, as the Kashmir policy of India is in the hands of establishment,” Kashmiri leaders added.

Tubari said that both BJP and Congress are against the right of self-determination of the Kashmiris. Both the parties carry the same mentality when it comes to Pakistan, he added.

Abdul Salam Butt said that elections are not the substitute to referendum in Kashmir. He said that Kashmiris should be allowed to decide what they want according to the UN resolutions. The AKJ government, opposition, religious and other political parties have rejected the elections in occupied Kashmir. Begum Mehrunnisa said that elections in the occupied Kashmir are nothing but fraud.  Ghulam Safi said that a military exercise is going on in Kashmir in the name of elections. Sagar said that only 32 per cent votes have been registered in occupied Kashmir.
