ISLAMABAD - In a rare example of police brutality, model police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who are serving under the “NAYA Pakistan” regime, has allegedly killed a ‘missing’ minority youth after abduction and keeping into illegal custody for around eight months.
“We have been searching for our child for eight months after his abduction and only found his dead body and are now running from pillar to post to get justice,” said Wilson Masih, father of the deceased, while talking to this scribe on Wednesday.
The dead body of 21-year-old Samyol Masih was found from Aza Kheel Park Road Nowshera after around eight months of his disappearance soon after family of the deceased filed an application before the ‘Inquiry Commission on Enforced Disappearances’ for the recovery of their son.
Four persons boarding a vehicle had abducted Samyol from Shobra Chowk Noswshera Cantt on July 2, 2014. Two of the kidnappers were dressed in police uniform, claimed the family members of Samyol Masih.
He was abducted the same day when his father had filed an application of 22-A in the court against the local police of Nowshera Cantt Police Station. Samyol is a resident of Armer Colony Nowshera, the constituency of Chief Minister KP Pervez Khattak.
Soon the father of the deceased, Wilson Masih filed an application before the Inquiry Commission on Enforced Disappearances for the recovery of his son and the commission on December 25, 2014 directed DIG Police KP Yamin Khan, SP Imtiaz, DSP Nazir Khan and DSP Alam Zeb Khan to produce the missing persons on next date the hearing. However, before the next hearing, the dead body of Saymol Masih was found in the same area where he was abducted.
Wilson while talking to The Nation first ruled out the possibility of any intelligence agency’s in his son’s abduction and killing. He alleged that police were involved in the killing of his son. “My son had never remained a member of any militant organization,” Wilson said adding that he used to work in a branch of City School.
Interestingly, police did not nominate anyone in the FIR registered in the death of Saymol Masih and his father said that the police have registered the FIR in a hurry and did not take them on board. “Now SP of the area has asked us that give the names of the suspects if you have within 10 days,” said Wilson Masih adding.
He suspected that police have abducted and killed his son. “Now police are asking us to trace out the culprits and inform them. If we have to trace culprits, then what police are doing,” he questioned.
Wilson told the police in his application that he had some personal disputes with some three persons including Naraish Kumar, Perkash Bhatti and Javed Bhatti and there were also alleged accomplices in the kidnapping and murder killing of his son
District Police Officer Nowshera Rabnawaz Khan while talking to The Nation said that police had registered the FIR and the police constable who was reportedly involved in the kidnapping had been suspended and a special inquiry committee had been constituted in the matter.
Surprisingly, police have not nominated this constable in FIR. The DPO assured that police would do its utmost efforts to chase the culprits.
Replying to a question, he was surprised that how a policeman could keep a man in illegal detention for eight months.
