It's good that Musharraf finally left, even if unexpectedly, without a big mess. I am sure he must have tried to stay in power by all means but his time was up. His resignation speech was feckless self-praise and nothing else. He only touched upon his perceived 'achievements' and did not say a word about issues that led him to resign. Anyhow, one should appreciate the role of the army chief who proved beyond doubt that army is no more interested in politics. It was also nice to see Dr Naseem Ashraf resigning and I want to request the government to hold him responsible for all wrongdoings in the PCB and NCHD during the last one and a half year. It would be nice to see Malik Qayyum and Justice Dogar also go home as soon as possible. -ABDUL RAUF, Fateh Jang, via e-mail, August 19.
