15 killed as flood tide sweaps away passenger bus

At least 15 passengers drowned and five injured when a passenger bus heading from Karachi to Peshawar was swept away in floodwater at Indus Highway near Taunsa Sharif here early on Monday. Seventy people majority of flood victims from Sindh were boarded on the bus. According to media reports, a flood tide washed away the Karachi-bound bus in district Taunsa Sharif of Dera Ghazi Khan at Indus Highway, as a result, 15 people were drowned while 30 others were rescued by rescue teams and local people. Passengers sitting at the roof of the bus saved their lives by jumping in floodwater, while 20 passengers were reported to be swept in the floodwater that could raised the death toll of the incident, where as heavy machinery has been brought from DG Khan to evacuate the bus from the floodwater. The high tides causing trouble in rescue activities. Three of the deceased who were identified are included a bus drive Sajjad, a resident of Karachi, Aslam Hayat Khatak and another man belonged to Charsadda identified as Waqas Shah. Search is still underway for the rest of the people.
