LAHORE (PR) - The Atlas Group, its affiliates and associates, having anticipated the scale of damage the recent floods would cause, have been actively involved in the relief efforts throughout the country. In the first phase, readily edible items have been distributed with a concentration in those areas which are least accessible. This has been followed by provision of medicines and temporary shelter as and where required. The Atlas Group has committed and delivered more than Rs 40 million to the disaster relief so far. Another Yen 10 million has been donated by one of its longstanding partners, Honda Motor Company, through the Pakistan Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. The Group has the advantage of having presence in the most remote areas of the country through decades old relationships in towns and villages all over Pakistan. This reach has helped the Group to direct its relief efforts to the neediest and most deserving. It is clear the rehabilitation process will be a long and painstaking. A second phase has thus been initiated to provide the necessary assistance in the most affected areas.
