SIALKOT Punjab Governor Salman Taseer and Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday visited the bereaved family of two youths who were lynched by an angry mob to console with them at Hajipura. Talking to the newsmen, they termed the incident a national tragedy and asked the people to help the Government eliminate such incidents. They assured the family of speedy justice, saying the culprits would be awarded exemplary punishment. They said the footages aired on various TV channels had been provided to the NADRA for the verification of the accused, as the faces of killers were clear in the recording. Later, they offered fateha for the departed souls. Meanwhile, people of the area have announced to hold protest demonstrations on Monday (today) to express solidarity with the family. However, Muhammad Sajid Butt, father of the slain youths, urged the people to remain peaceful during demonstration and did not take law into their hands. On the other hand, law enforcement agencies, fearing that the situation could become violent, have beefed up security in the area. PPI Adds: Federal Interior Minister announced that the killers would be punished and hanged there at the spot where they that lynched two innocent youths. He told the newsmen that as many as 10 accused and four accused policemen have been arrested by sialkot police in this case.
