RAWALPINDI – A proclaimed offender along with his accomplices murdered two real brothers while injured another on suspicion of leaking information about them to police at Kahna Bajjar, within the limits of Police Station Rawat on Tuesday night.

The killers managed to escape the scene whereas police moved the dead bodies and the injured to District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) for postmortem and treatment. The killer was identified as Gulfraz while the deceased as Rasheed and Ghulam Rabbani sons of Chandi Khan. Gulam Jilani sustained bullet injuries during the armed assault.

Talking to TheNation on Wednesday, Sub Inspector Zahoor, who also investigating the case, informed that both the parties - the PO and the deceased - were used to live together at the hills of Sohawa and developed close relations with each other. He added that one Mohazam and his brother Gulfraz were declared POs by the court on plea of police for their involvement in several cases lodged with Jhelum and Gujar Khan police stations. He said that Rasheed group provided protection several time to Gulfraz group from police.

The SI said that cracks developed between Gulfraz and Rasheed group when police killed one PO Mohazam, the brother of Gulfrazm during an encounter. Later, Rasheed group migrated to Rawat and started living at Kahna Bajjar.

Meanwhile, Gulfraz suspected Rasheed group of having its hand behind the encounter of his brother Mohazam and launched a brazen attack on the house of his rivals killing Rasheed and Ghulam Rabbai on the spot while injuring the third Ghulam Jilani.

Police took up murder against Gulfraz and his unknown accomplices and started investigation, SI added. 

Later, police handed over the dead bodies of deceased to the heirs for burial.  

SP Saddar Waheed-ur-Rehman Khattak and Station House Officer (SHO) PS Rawat Malik Yousaf could not be approached for their comments.

Police arrest 20


Rawalpindi Police in its ongoing drive against anti-social elements arrested 20 lawbreakers including six gamblers and one drunkard from different areas of the district during Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.

Police recovered six gallons and 263 bottles of liquor, three 30 bore pistols with 13 rounds and one dagger.

Meanwhile Waris Khan police arrested Jamil on recovery of four gallons of liquor. Bashir was held with two gallons of liquor.

Another accused namely Khurram was arrested with 200 bottles of liquor.

Waris Khan police sent behind the bars Irfan as he was held with five bottles of liquor. Peerwadhai police also recovered 40 bottles of liquor. Ali, Saif, Imran, Waseem, Riasat, Zaheer, Gultasab, and Zafar were sent behind the bars on recovery of liquor and illegal weapons from their possession.

New Town police arrested Bashir as he was under the influence of alcohol.

Meanwhile, Sadiqabad police acting on a tip-off conducted a raid and nabbed six gamblers.

According to details, on an information Sadiqabad police raided in Khurram Colony and caught six gamblers namely Abdul Qudoos, Munir,Syed Muhammad, Daood, Ghazali and Abdul Qayyum red-handed for being involved in gambling and recovered Rs 23,790 stake money with six mobile phone and other gadgets.
