SARGODHA – At least eight members of a family including three women were killed and six others injured on Eid day in village 6/NB over a land dispute.
Landlord Riaz Warriach contracted love-marriage with her relative Seema in village Naugrain, tehsil Wazirabad some 22 years ago. The brother of Seema, Munnawar Warraich, held a grudge against the couple. Later, Riaz shifted to Chak 6/NB, Jalle Wala. After sometime, Munnawar Warriach took possession of 60 acres agricultural land of Riaz in Wazirabad without his consent over which the prosecution started between both the parties and a case is lying pending with Lahore High Court.
On the second day of Eid, Munnawar along with his nine accomplices allegedly attacked the house of Riaz and shot dead Riaz, his three sons Sufyan, Imran, Adnan, his daughter Zubila, brother Anwar, brother’s wife Dil Naaz Bibi and niece Iqra.
However, Riaz’s wife Seema, daughters Sadia and Rahila, his brother’s sons Ikram and Nabeel Hassan and daughter Afshan sustained bullet Injuries.
The Sadar Bhalwal police reached the scene and shifted the injured/bodies to Tehsil Headquarter Hospital Bhalwal. Later, all the injured were referred to DHQ Hospital Sargodha for medical treatment where they were stated to be in critical condition.
Taking notice of the barbarian, Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Muhammad Rizwan constituted teams for the arrest of fleeing assaulters. According to the police sources, two accused namely Nawaz and Inayat were held from the village Naugaran of Wazirabad.
