LAHORE – The cinemas and theatres of the provincial metropolis witnessed huge rush of film and theatregoers during the Eid holidays.

On the auspicious occasion of Eidul Fitr, seven films including three Lollywood productions, three Hollywood and one Bollywood movies were exhibited. 

As per details, the Lollywood productions ‘Sharika’, ‘Gujar Da Kharak’ and ‘Dil Diyan Lagiyan,’ having Shan and Saima in lead role were showcased at different cinemas of the City. Most of the City cinema including Gulistan, Cinestar, Sozo World, PAF Cinegold etc screened three Holloywood movies including Dark Night, Total Recall and Expendable 2. Dark Night was exhibited Gulistan, Cinestar, Sozo World, PAF and Cinegold, Total Recall was screened at Plaza Cinema, Cinestar, Sozo World, PAF and Cenigold while Expendable 2 was showcased at DHA, Cinestar, PAF, S Cinestar Sozo World and Cinegold.  

A Bollywood film Jism 2 also exhibited. The movie was not in the list of exhibition on Eid, but at the eleventh hours it was planned to be screened.

According to a cinema owner, Hollywood movie Dark Night earned the highest business while the other Hollywood flick Expendable 2 remained on second number. He said that Bollywood movie Jism 2 remained on number three by earning Rs 2 million during the first and second days of Eid. He told that Syed Noor’s Sharikka remained number one by earning Rs one million during first and second days. Gujar Da Kharak earned Rs 800,000 while Dil Diyan Lagiyan could make only Rs 300,000.

Leading theatres of the City presented a sufficient number of plays with prominent stage actors on the occasion of Eid. A comedy stage show ‘Khail Qismat Ka’ was performed at Mehfil Theatre wherein Megha, Nasir Chinioti, Khushbu, Sakhawat Naz and others performed. Al-Falah Theatre presented Jawan Ho Gae, staring Iftikhar Thakar, Zafri, Naseem Wiki, and others, Al-Hamra, The Mall presented Haseeno Ka Mela and Comedy Circus, Naz Theatre presented Jano Eidi Do while Tamaseel Theatre presented Ghungro.
